From February 10 to 16, the 26th edition of the Medicine Collection Days took place, promoted by Fondazione Banco Farmaceutico ETS throughout Italy. This initiative continues to represent a concrete response to a silent but increasingly widespread emergency: healthcare poverty.
In seven days, over 670,000 packages of medicines were donated, worth more than €6 million. This significant contribution will enable support to be provided to at least 502,000 people living in health poverty through 2,118 affiliated welfare organizations.
The result, which has grown steadily over the years, was made possible thanks to the collaboration of 6,068 pharmacies throughout Italy, more than 27,300 volunteers, and over 21,300 pharmacists. Donations were not limited to medicines but also included a significant financial contribution from pharmacy owners, who offered over €910,000 to support the initiatives and projects of Banco Farmaceutico.
Continuing to support Banco Farmaceutico is essential to supporting the charitable organizations that care for the most vulnerable people. In 2025, 501,922 people (8.5 residents per 1,000, an increase of 8.4% compared to 2024) found themselves in conditions of health poverty, as highlighted in the latest Health Poverty Report.
IBSA Italy has been supporting Banco Farmaceutico for over ten years, confirming its commitment to promoting the right to healthcare and equitable access to medicines. This year, the company's commitment has also translated into concrete action: several employees have actively participated in the initiative, dedicating one of their days of paid leave to volunteer work made available by the company. This experience strengthened the sense of shared responsibility and connection with the local community, transforming the time donated into real help for those in vulnerable situations.
A joint commitment that demonstrates how collaboration between the third sector, businesses, and professionals can generate a tangible and lasting impact.
